Holiday Gifts – 2-Week Hand-Building Course

Get ready for the holidays with our two-part hand-building series! Skip buying the mass produced gifts this season and create personalized gifts! While wheel-throwing often gets the spotlight in pottery media, hand-building offers the freedom to create refined, personalized and unique creations without the steep learning curve. Pickups ready in 3 weeks—just in time for the holidays!
Holiday Trays
Friday, November 28. 4 – 6:00pm
Wednesday, December 3. 4 – 6:00pm
Celebrate the season through clay and creativity! In this class, students will explore slab-building techniques to make trinket trays! Ideal for holiday treats or everyday use like your car keys! While wheel-throwing is popular, hand building is the oldest pottery method, using only hands and simple tools. You’ll learn the basics of working with slabs to craft your unique holiday tray! Perfect for beginners or returning students looking to celebrate the season. After class, our staff will finish your work and contact you in 4–5 weeks for pickup.
Holiday Slab-Building Mugs
Monday, December 1. 4:30 – 6:30pm
Get into the holiday spirit! Students will learn slab-building techniques to create their own festive mugs. While wheel-throwing is popular, hand building is the oldest pottery method, using only hands and simple tools. You will learn the basics of working with slabs to craft your unique holiday mug! Perfect for beginners or returning students looking for a creative way to celebrate the season! After class, our staff will finish your work and contact you in 4–5 weeks for pickup.
Intro to Hand Building: Holiday Ornaments!
Saturday, December 6. 7 – 9:00pm
Tuesday, December 9. 4– 6:00pm
Let’s get festive and play with clay! In this 2-hour one-time handbuilding class, you’ll learn a variety of techniques to create 4 to 6 unique holiday ornaments. Perfect to gift or keep for yourself.
You’ll shape, texture, and decorate your pieces using colorful underglazes!
A joyful, hands-on way to celebrate the season and make something special!
*Due to the variable drying times of clay, Good Dirt LA cannot guarantee all ornaments will be ready to pickup before December 25th.
