Intro to Hand Building: Holiday Candle Lanterns

Get cozy + holiday ready with candle lanterns! Although people often think of wheel-throwing first, hand building is actually the oldest form of pottery as it involves only the hands and simple tools. In this beginner-friendly class, you will learn the basics of hand building with slabs and use this technique to create a candle lantern or two!

Pickups ready in 3 weeks—just in time for the holidays!
Holiday Slab-Building Mugs
Get into the holiday spirit! Students will learn slab-building techniques to create their own festive mugs. While wheel-throwing is popular, hand building is the oldest pottery method, using only hands and simple tools. You will learn the basics of working with slabs to craft your unique holiday mug! Perfect for beginners or returning students looking for a creative way to celebrate the season! After class, our staff will finish your work and contact you in 4–5 weeks for pickup.
Intro to Hand Building: Holiday Ornaments!
Let’s get festive and play with clay! In this 2-hour one-time handbuilding class, you’ll learn a variety of techniques to create 4 to 6 unique holiday ornaments. Perfect to gift or keep for yourself.
You’ll shape, texture, and decorate your pieces using colorful underglazes!
A joyful, hands-on way to celebrate the season and make something special!
*Due to the variable drying times of clay, Good Dirt LA cannot guarantee all ornaments will be ready to pickup before December 25th.
